How to use

  1. 1

    Upload

Any audio your browser can play — MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG, WebM or FLAC.

  2. 2

    Pick a format

    MP3 at 128 / 192 / 320 kbps, or lossless 16-bit WAV.

  3. 3

    Download

Preview the result, then save it.

Going to WAV keeps every sample intact for editing; 192 kbps MP3 is the sweet spot for voice memos and sharing — 320 only matters for music on good headphones.

Why convert M4A to MP3?

M4A plays fine on phones and computers, but plenty of car stereos, cheap MP3 players, voice-editing apps and old software still refuse it. MP3 is the lowest common denominator — converting removes the compatibility problem for good.

Which MP3 bitrate should I pick?

192 kbps for voice memos, lectures and sharing; 320 kbps only for music you will hear on decent headphones. Going from a 128 kbps source to 320 adds size but no quality — the detail was already gone.

What can't be converted in a browser?

Whatever your browser cannot decode: usually protected iTunes M4P files and some exotic codecs. Everything mainstream — MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG, WebM, FLAC — converts fine.
