Remove EXIF Data — Strip Photo Metadata Online

Strip GPS location, camera and timestamps from photos before sharing. Lossless for JPG and PNG, nothing is uploaded.

Drop a photo here, or click to choose

JPG · PNG · WebP — up to 50 MB

JPG and PNG are rewritten byte-by-byte with pixels untouched; other formats are re-encoded. Everything stays on your device.

Photos carry hidden metadata — GPS coordinates, your camera, editing software, timestamps. Strip it all before sharing, right in your browser.

How to use

  1. 1

    Upload

A JPG, PNG or WebP photo up to 50MB.

  2. 2

    See what leaks

The tool lists the camera, date, software and GPS location found in the file.

  3. 3

    Clean & download

One click removes everything — the photo looks identical.

JPG and PNG are rewritten byte-by-byte, so pixels are untouched — no quality loss at all. Messengers like WeChat and Discord usually strip EXIF on send, but email, AirDrop and cloud links do not.

Do social apps strip EXIF automatically?

Most feeds (WeChat Moments, Instagram, Twitter) re-compress uploads and drop metadata in the process. But files sent as documents, by email, AirDrop, cloud links or chat "original image" options keep EXIF — those are the cases where cleaning first matters.

Does removing metadata lower image quality?

No. JPG and PNG are rebuilt by copying every pixel byte unchanged and dropping only metadata blocks — the result is visually and technically identical. Formats that need re-encoding are labeled as such in the result panel.

What else should I check before sharing a photo?

Metadata is only half of it — look at the photo itself for street signs, house numbers, reflections and screen content in the background. Also note that screenshots rarely carry EXIF, but they often show more sensitive content than camera photos.
