Free under 30MB & 2 minutes — 2 times per day

Free tier runs on our own server (≤30MB / ≤2min, 720p max, 2 per day). Larger files are re-encoded by our cloud video provider and billed per started minute — the file goes straight from your browser to the provider, never through our server. Output files are deleted after 7 days.

Shrink a video by re-encoding it to H.264/AAC MP4 at a lower bitrate — the standard trade of a little quality for a lot less size, done entirely for you.

How to use

  1. 1

    Pick a video

MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV, AVI and more. Files under 30MB and 2 minutes are compressed free.

  2. 2

    Choose a level

For larger files pick Light, Balanced or Strong — stronger means a smaller file and softer detail.

  3. 3

    Download

You get a standard MP4 that plays everywhere, with the size reduction shown next to it.

Compressing an already-compressed video loses detail fast. Always start from the highest-quality source you have, and compress once rather than three times.

How much smaller will my video get?

A typical phone clip shot at 30–60 Mbps drops to 4–8 Mbps at Balanced — roughly 70–85% smaller with no obvious loss on a phone screen. Already-compressed web video shrinks far less; 20–40% is realistic.

Why does compression take longer than trimming?

Trimming copies frames without decoding them. Compression decodes every frame, re-encodes it, and rebuilds the keyframe structure — that is real CPU work, measured in minutes rather than seconds.

Which level should I pick?

Light (CRF 23) when the video will be watched on a big screen or re-edited later; Balanced (CRF 26) for sharing and social media; Strong (CRF 30) when a size cap matters more than detail, such as email attachments.
